Alberto Salas is a Grammy-winning producer, arranger, keyboardist, and percussionist from Los Angeles. A first-generation American born in South Central LA to a Costa Rican father and Cuban mother, Alberto is best known for playing the original piano on "Corazón Espinado" — the iconic Mana and Santana collaboration from the multi-platinum Supernatural album. He performed the song live at the very first Latin Grammy Awards alongside Carlos Santana, Mana, and Chester Thompson, and again on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno the following night. A self-taught musician who learned by watching piano players' hands at LA jazz clubs as a teenager, Alberto has gone on to perform, tour, and record with Santana, Mana, Angelique Kidjo, Ozomatli, Los Lobos, Poncho Sanchez, Alex Acuña, Israel "Cachao" Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Andy Garcia, and many more. He has appeared on the Latin Grammy Awards, The Tonight Show, and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Despite never attending music school, Alberto is a faculty member in the Keyboard Technology Program at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, and has taught at USC and UCLA. He currently performs with the Andy Vargas Band and continues to work as a producer, arranger, and session musician through Salas Sound Productions.
